Passenger and light commercial vehicle registrations in Ashburton(S) increased between 2001 and 2008, with the number of passenger vehicles increasing at a faster rate.

The number of vehicles in Ashburton(S) as a proportion of vehicles to people (ERP - aged 17 and above) generally increased between 2001 and 2007 for all vehicle types.

Light vehicles formed the majority of traffic in Ashburton(S) for the listed roads in 2008. There was a slightly higher proportion of heavy vehicles on Karijini Drive, while North West Coastal Hwy, South of Yarraloola Rd saw the highest proportion of long vehicles & road trains.
