Number and value of building approvals

There were a total of 162 new residential building approvals from between 2000-01 and 2007-08 in Ashburton(S), averaging 20 approvals per year.  There were only three building approvals in 2004-05, which then jumped to 71 in 2005-06. Over this time period, Ashburton(S) had the lowest average number of new residential building approvals in the Pilbara.

The total value of new residential building approvals in Ashburton(S) remained steady between 2000-01 and 2004-05, then jumped sharply in 2005-06 due to the large jump in the number of approvals. The total value of new residential building approvals fluctuated between 2005-06 and 2007-08.

The average cost of new residential building approvals remained relatively stable over the five years to 2003-04.  A small number of approvals were received in 2004-05 at relatively low cost, followed by continued growth in the average costs to 2007-08.
