‘Housing & Land Snapshot’ reports are produced quarterly by the Pilbara Development Commission. The reports details figures on the residential rental market, private purchase market and government housing for the major centres of Karratha, Port & South Hedland and Newman. Current and past copies of the report are available for download on the Commission’s website www.pdc.wa.gov.au.

Housing affordability

The average amount spent per week in 2006 on rent/mortgage by household income brackets shows minimal fluctuations between cost in Port Hedland(T).

Average housing rental costs

Looking at real estate agent and private rentals separately provides a view of the rental costs in each area without the employer sponsored rentals etc. swaying the figures.
