From 1996 to 2006 the number of people working 40 and 41-48 hours dropped, whereas the proportion of people working 49+ hours increased significantly.

 

 

 

 

The 49+ hours category was the most common working hours category for women in 2001 and 2006. The proportion of men working 40 and 41-48 hours dropped, as the proportion of men working 49+ hours increased.

Ashburton(S) non-core hours in the 49+ category increased in the 2006 Census period, after remaining relatively steady in the 1996 & 2001 period, whereas 41-48 hours worked had decreased over the 10 year period. Consistent with the other shires across the Pilbara, non-core hours in Ashburton(S) are proportionally the highest during this period.
