The cost of road maintenance and construction is relatively small for Port Hedland(T) in comparison to the other local governments within the Pilbara. Between 2003-04 and 2007-08 costs have dramatically increased with the increase of road works.

Number of road closures

 

 

 

In comparison to the other local governments within the Pilbara, Port Hedland(T) had the least number of road closures over the six years to 2008. Of the few road closures that occurred, all of these occurred on the Great Northern Highway between Port Hedland and the Marble Bar Road turn off.
