Individual and household incomes
Across the five years to 2006, the number of people earning $1000 or more per week grew by more than 25% from August 2001, with a large portion of that increase for those earning $1600 or more.

As with most shires across the Pilbara, the mining, manufacturing and construction industries provide the highest median incomes within Port Hedland(T). As a contrast, the lowest median incomes were evident in the arts and recreation services and agriculture industries.
