Diversity of small business in comparison to larger regional centres

In 2007 East Pilbara(S) had a greater proportion of businesses in Retail Trade (20%), than Geraldton(C) (15.1%) and Kalgoorlie/Boulder(C) (15.5%). The construction industry in East Pilbara(S) comprised 23.8% of businesses, again higher than Geraldton(C) (18.2%) and Kalgoorlie/Boulder(C) (18.1%).

Finance and insurance businesses in 2007 in Geraldton(C) (7.6%) made up a greater proportion of businesses than in East Pilbara(S) (2.5%). Similarly, Transport & Storage businesses in Kalgoorlie/Boulder(C) (6.9%) surpassed the proportion of total businesses in East Pilbara(S) (3.8%).
