Proportion of registered boats per household

There was a significant increase in the number of registered recreational boats in East Pilbara(S) between 1995 and 2008, considering it’s limited coastline, with the nearest port over 100 kilometres from the closest major town.

As expected, the increase between 1995 and 2008 was almost exclusively in the size range up to 7.5m long, which are considered of a trailer towing size, with very small numbers of the larger boats registered.

When looking at the number of registered boats in relation to the size of the population, East Pilbara(S) understandably has a very low proportion of boats to people, albeit growing.
