Hospital separations by reason for hospitalisation

 

The number of hospitalisations for diseases of the respiratory system remained relatively constant between 2003 and 2007, with increased levels in 2008. The number of hospitalisations for endocrine disorders and complications of pregnancy increased significantly between 2003 and 2008.

Infectious diseases and diseases of the respiratory system were at consistently high levels in comparison to other reasons for hospitalisation for 0-4 year olds between 2000 and 2008.
