Number of people that use the internet
In 2006, over 75% of people within the Pilbara had internet connection at home, in comparison with only 56% of people in 2001. The most common form of internet connection was via broadband, making up 76% of all dwellings with an internet connection.

In 2006 the number of broadband internet connections were highest in Roebourne(S) and clearly the preferred form, with only Ashburton(S) having a greater proportion of dwellings using this method. The Pilbara showed a higher proportion of dwellings connected to the internet in comparison to the State as a whole (Pilbara 70.7% vs. WA 63.2%), evident most clearly in the use of broadband connection (Pilbara 75.9% vs. WA 64.0%).
