Of all drivers/riders involved in crashes between 1999 and 2008, the largest proportion occurred within the age group 25-39 (33.1% of total).

Vehicle inspections
In 2007-08 there was a total of 3,522 vehicle inspections in the Pilbara, of these 3,417 (97%) passed and 105 (3%) failed. The highest rate of failure occurred in June 2008 with 294 vehicles being inspected and 15 (4.8%) failing.

Tourist road crashes
Of all Pilbara motor vehicle accidents occurring over the ten year period to 2008, 59.1% involved residents within their own Shire. While not being able to distinguish tourists specifically, 13.8% of all accidents involved drivers from outside of the Pilbara.
