Total tonnes of refuse processed
Over 31,000 tonnes of waste was collected in the Pilbara in 2006. Port Hedland(T) contributed 42% of this, while East Pilbara(S) only contributed 10.2%.
East Pilbara(S) was the only Shire in the Pilbara to recycle waste, with 332 tonnes recycled in 2006 which was 10.5% of their total waste, but this was only 1.1% of the total waste in the Pilbara.

Ashburton(S) collected and processed 1500 tonnes of waste from public places, substantially more than any other Shire (note: Port Hedland(T) was not able to split their waste collected from public places from general waste)
When broken down into refuse collected per person, Ashburton(S) collected the highest quantity of waste compared to any other Shire in the Pilbara in 2006.
