The number of hours worked

Hours worked in Roebourne(S) were proportionally larger in the 40hr and upward categories. Hours worked remained relatively stable across the ten year period to 2006, with the exception of the 49+ hrs.


From 1996 to 2006, the largest growth in hours worked was in the 49+ category for both males and females. Whereas the number of hours worked for females was fairly evenly distributed through the different categories, males’ working hours were skewed towards the 40, 41-48 and 49+ categories.

Consistent with the other shires within the Pilbara, non-core hours in Roebourne(S) were proportionally the highest. An increase over the 1996, 2001 & 2006 Census periods are evident in the 49+ hours, however 41-48 hours have remained relatively stable over same period.
Roebourne(S) highest level of hours worked in the mining industry during the ten year period to 2006 occurred in the 41-48hr category of the 2006 Census period which was in contrast to the other shires in the Pilbara.
