Hospital separations by reason for hospitalisation

 

In general, the number of hospital separations for the largest diagnosis categories of diseases of the digestive system, complications of pregnancy, and injury and poisoning increased significantly between 2003 and 2008.

Hospital separations for 0 – 4 year olds

 

 

 

Between 2000 and 2008, the most common reason for hospitalisation in children between 0 - 4 years was, and remains to be, respiratory system diseases.  Indicative falls have been seen in the incidence of respiratory system disease since 2002.
